A Hypothetical Fifth Chapter to Gullivers Travels Gullivers travels end with Gulliver yell against pride. The irony is that Gulliver is skillful of pride. Having adapted to the ways of the Houyhnhnm, he disciplines himself as superior. This is unfortunate for his family. In a sense, Gullivers identity has been shattered, and he refuses to acknowledge the humanity in himself. Chapter Five starts five age later. Although Gulliver is pretty stubborn, I think five years is a good enough approximation of the amount of time it would surveil for most boredom to settle in. And since Gulliver doesnt like introspection, hell start to determine uncomfort adequate. The desire to travel will return. He will do it alone this time because he wouldnt want to be stuck in a boat with Yahoos. He wont beat back far before a storm takes him. Hell wash up ashore on an island that appears devoid of anything, as if hed landed on a vast, marble tile. Thered be minor vegetation, a few t rees here and there. The island would look infinitely flat. It would hold out his current personality. Gulliver would offer for two days before conclude any water. Hed happen upon a bittie lake, and dying of thirst, hed drink many cups of the water. at one time filled, hed have to maintain food. So far, he hadnt seen any life. That in mind, Gulliver would dispirit his walk linchpin to the shore, where hed have to take place hours upon hours trying to appropriate fish for food. For months, hed walk back and forrard between the lake and shore, filling himself with water and affectionate fish. Because of the lack of optical stimuli, he wouldnt be able to engage in precise descriptions of his environment. Thered be nothing for his awareness to cling onto but himself. Fortunately for Gulliver, he would eventually find civilization. It was there all along. He skillful couldnt see it. One evening, hed get a breeze. The direct would be curiously hot.
